As the day went on, it became obvious that the AN-124 wasn't going anywhere, and the latest information to hand suggests that it won't be departing until early next week.
It was also nice to see local television media out in force on Thursday, and also nice to hear the Rockhampton Regional Council spokesperson openly welcoming aviation enthusiasts and other members of the general public to come down to Rockhampton and have a look at the giant Antonov!
Meanwhile, the AN-124 unloaded five Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Boeing AH-64D Apache helicopters that will soon be participating in the Exercise Wallaby 2012.
These choppers were being re-built pretty much all day, with '058' (pictured below) eventually being towed to its parking position.
Other chopper action at Rockhampton Airport on Thursday 4 October was confined to a pair of Eurocopter AS335M Super Puma Helicopters. '293' departed from and returned to Rockhampton Airport during the morning.
Meanwhile, '272' flew a similar sortied later in the afternoon. Both choppers used the 'Starling' callsign.
It was a good day!
Many thanks for the photos.
