Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-203 / KC-30A (MRTT) A39-004 Missed Approach at Rockhampton and Mackay Airports

A great start to the day at Rockhampton Airport on Tuesday 20 November with Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-203 / KC-30A (MRTT) A39-004 conducting an early morning missed approach on Runway 15.

Rockhampton plane spotter 'IAD' couldn't believe his eyes as the big Airbus overflew the city before approaching the Airport and then roaring over the field at low level.

'IAD' then noted A39-004 heading North where it is believed it conducted a missed approach at Mackay Airport too, before continuing on to Townsville.

A reminder that there will be another heavy jet at Rockhampton on Tuesday 20 November with Singapore Airlines Boeing B777-200 9V-SRI expected to touch down at around 9pm from Singapore as SIA8931.

Meanwhile, late in the afternoon on Monday 19 November, there was some excitement when Virgin Australia Embraer E-190 VH-ZPM was detected flying inbound to Rockhampton.  VH-ZPM recently returned to Australia from the United States of America (USA) where it underwent heavy maintenance and interior reconfiguration.  There was even speculation that it would return to Australia in Virgin Australia livery.  Alas it didn't, and as photos that 'IAD' took show, it is still wearing its Pacific Blue colour scheme.

While 'IAD' was there on Monday afternoon, he also captured QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOP as it prepared for its next flight.

Oh well!
