Some Gladstone Airport Plane Spotting Action From the Last Couple of Days

We popped into Gladstone Airport on Sunday 2 December to have a chat with the local aviators at the Gladstone Aero Club and to also take in the sights and sounds of some of the comings and goings.  While at the Aero Club, we were treated to some spectacular manoeuvres being carried out by Australian Helicopters Kawasaki BK-117 B-2 VH-VRP which was presumably conducting flight training.

The commercial action was dominated by QantasLink Dash-8 aircraft - Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOS was noted departing for Brisbane as QLK2331.  Dash-8-Q300 VH-SBV was noted departing for Rockhampton while operating the QLK2300 service from Brisbane to Cairns via Gladstone, Rockhampton, Mackay and Townsville.  And Dash-8-Q300 VH-TQH was noted arriving into Gladstone from Rockhampton as QLK2301 - Cairns to Brisbane via all stops!

Meanwhile, on the General Aviation (GA) apron, Piper PA-24-250 VH-NQL, which is believed to have arrived in company with Piper PA-24-260 VH-AZK, were both noted.

Back at Gladstone Airport on Tuesday 4 December, we noted a nice selection of General Aviation aircraft, including Vee H Aviation (Corporate Air) Metro 23 VH-VEU.

Also sighted was the Murwillumbah Automotive Group's Beech A36 VH-APG.  It had earlier arrived from the Gold Coast.  Meanwhile, nearby was Cessna 210M VH-WYM.

And also noted was Nixon Communication's Cessna 210 which was noted departing for Mackay.  Reports suggest that Nixon Communication's will soon base a bizjet at Gladstone Airport too!

On the commercial front during our visit, QantasLink Dash-8-Q300 VH-TQM was preparing for take-off from Runway 28.
