A Beaut Friday Morning of Plane Spotting at Bundaberg Airport - Alliance Airlines Fokker F-100 VH-FWI Charter and More!

Local plane spotter Micah S had what he described as an enjoyable morning of plane spotting at Bundaberg Airport on Friday 26 July with a good mix of aircraft types and a surprise visitor or two.

By far the most interesting visitor to Bundy on Friday 26 July was Alliance Airlines Fokker F-100 VH-FWI which touched down from Townsville early in the morning as UTY551.

It is believed that VH-FWI was in town operating a closed charter for Bundaberg netball players who are playing at a carnival in Townsville this weekend.  Approximately 90 passengers boarded the jet, and it likely that there should be a return charter to Bundaberg in the coming days.

VH-FWI evenutally departed to Townsville as UTY552.

The other special visitor to Bundaberg on Friday 26 July was Surf Life Saving Queensland Eurocopter EC-135P-2 helicopter VH-NVG.  There were reports that VH-NVG came to Bundaberg to visit several schools which were affected by the floods earlier this year.

While he was at Bundy Airport, Micah captured the mid-morning QantasLink flight from and back to Brisbane, with Dash-8-Q300 VH-TQH spotted operating the QLK2320/2323 service.

Also spotted was the 'locally based' Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Hawker Beechcraft B200 King Air VH-FDA.  Micah spotted VH-FDA departing for Cunnamulla as "FlyDoc 401".

Finally, Micah caught up Queensland Police Service (Airwing) Raytheon B1900D VH-PSK, as it called into Bundaberg briefly during another busy day of flying on Friday 26 July

VH-PSK arrived into Bundy from Townsville and later departed for Brisbane, before flying back up the Queensland coast later in the day calling into Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, and eventually, Cairns.

My thanks to Micah for sending through his great photos and news from Bundaberg!  Really glad it was a top morning of plane spotting!
