Cirrus SR20 and SR22 Light Aircraft From all Over Queensland Descend on Hamilton Island Airport

Reports suggest that as many as 30 Cirrus SR20 and SR22 light prop aircraft have descended on Hamilton Island for what has been reported an "Instructional Weekend" offered by Cirrus Aircraft to further educate current and potential owners about the operation of Cirrus aircraft.

One Web resource has had SR20s VH-DRK, VH-SRA, VH-VDR, and SR22s VH-WJB, VH-MCX, VH-YLA, VH-YDA, VH-FER, VH-EPG, VH-KJN, VH-YMQ, VH-WTF, VH-PQV, VH-PGU, VH-YSH, VH-VGG, VH-OPG, VH-DLS, VH-FJD, VH-NOZ, VH-ZCS, VH-FSF, VH-SRQ, VH-YLS, VH-CAW, and VH-OBT, all inbound to Hamo from towns all over Queensland and Northern New South Wales including Roma, Emerald, Rockhampton, Mackay and Gladstone in Central Queensland.  There are possibly many more that have also landed that we might be unaware of!

Gladstone plane spotters Jamie C and Tash C captured three of these aircraft passing through Gladstone Airport on Friday 22 November while they were on their way up to Hamilton Island.

Jamie and Tash captured SR20 VH-DRK and SR22 VH-PGU flying in close company to Hamilton Island after stopping for fuel at Gladstone after arriving from Archerfield and Southport respectively.

A little later, SR22 VH-YSH was captured by Jamie and Tash as it made its way North to Hamo, also stopping for fuel after earlier arriving from Archerfield.

It would certainly be a sight to behold having some 30 Cirrus aircraft all parked together at Hamilton Island, and sincere thanks go to Jamie and Tash for capturing only a small selection of the aircraft participating in the weekend!
