And the surprises just kept coming on Friday 22 November with no less than three Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Pilatus PC-9/A trainer aircraft being spotted at Mackay Airport.
The three PC-9s - flown by the RAAFs 4 Squadron, based at Williamtown in New South Wales - parked at Mackay briefly for fuel before departing together for Townsville. They were heard to be flying under the radio callsign on "Reaper".
A little later at Townsville, local plane spotter Dave captured one of the three PC-9s - A23-020 - as it arrived into Townsville Airport, while its other two sister-aircraft completed airwork in the nearby restricted area.
Sincere thanks to 'AC' in Mackay and to Dave in Townsville for sending through these fantastic images from a truly great day for Central Queensland Plane Spotter who particularly enjoy their military aircraft!
