Queensland Government (QGAir) Rescue Bell 412 Helicopter VH-ESD at Mackay and Gladstone Airports

Spotted calling into Gladstone Airport on Tuesday 5 May was Queensland Government (QGAir) Rescue Bell 412 VH-ESD.

It appears the chopper has been operating out of Townsville of late and on Tuesday it ferried South to Archerfield via Mackay and Gladstone.  It is presumed that it will enter the QGAir Rescue hangar for planned maintenance.

Of interest, VH-ESD - flying as "Rescue 521" - made the trip from Townsville to Hamilton Island really late on Friday 1 May, arriving in the wee small hours of Saturday 2 May.  It looked to be operating a med-evac flight as it returned to Townville Hosptial shortly after.

It would be expected another QGAir Rescue chopper should ferry North in the coming days.

Thanks to local plane spotters Jamie and Tash for sending through these great photos!
