RAAF Airbus A330-203 / KC-30A (MRTT) A39-003 Does Three Missed Approaches at Rockhampton Airport

On Saturday 9 May, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-203 / KC-30A (MRTT) A39-003 performed not one but three missed approaches at Rockhampton Airport during two visits.

It initially called in from RAAF Base Amberley, performing a missed approach before continuing North to Townsville where it landed.

After departing Townsville, it flew South and then performed two missed approaches back at Rockhampton before returning South to Amberley.

For both flights, the KC-30 was heard to use the radio callsign of "Dragon 14".

Of interest, A39-003 joined A39-001 flying in what looked to be a formation as "Titan" on Friday 8 May - something I've never seen before - and would certainly love to see!

Thanks to local plane spotter Kayanne H and Board member and Newsletter Editor of the Rockhampton Aero Club (RAC) Paul T for capturing these great photos and for sending them through!
