Piper PA-38-112 Tomahawk II VH-HAW Spotted at Maryborough Airport Recently

An interesting little aircraft that was recently spotted visiting Maryborough Airport by David G of locally-based Maryborough Aviation Services was Piper PA-38-112 Tomahawk II VH-HAW.

VH-HAW was manufactured in 1979 and is powered by a Teledyne-Continental IO-235, 4-cylinder engine.  It was imported to Australia in 1982 and is one of several Piper Tomahawk aircraft that have been operated by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC) and Air Training Corps (AirTC).

The fantastic and very informative ADF Serials website has some more information on the Piper Tomahawk in operation with the RAAF here:  http://www.adf-gallery.com.au/pipertomahawk.htm

Sincere thanks to David G for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos of a great little aircraft.

  1. Most Tomahawks have a Lycoming O-235-L2C engine of 118 HP. I have several of the things including a sister to this one.
