Hopefully you're not getting too sick of us talking about and posting photos featuring the Antonov Airlines (Antonov Design Bureau) AN-124-100 'Ruslan' UR-82073 at Rockhampton Airport this week!
As we've mentioned previously, it touched down at Rockhampton Airport early on Tuesday 6 September flying direct from Paya Lebar Air Base in Singapore as ADB2392.
On this particular flight, it carried four Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Boeing AH-64D Apache helicopters - wearing serials '060', '067', '062' and '066' - and these were carefully unloaded and towed to be parked beside the cross-Runway 04/22.
UR-82073 departed Rockhampton Airport very early on Wednesday 7 September as ADF292F to Johor Bahru (Senai) in Malaysia. It is expected to return to Rocky one final time at around 4am on Friday 9 September. I suspect that it will be carrying another two RSAF Boeing CH-47SD Chinook helicopters. Two other 'chooks' - serials '88193' and 88195' - were delivered by the Antonov last Saturday 3 September.
All the delivered helicopters so far look to be being put back together and will soon no doubt be test flown in preparation for the commencement of the Singapore Armed Force's Exercise Wallaby 2016 which will officially kick-off on Thursday 15 September.
Stay tuned to the CQ Plane Spotting Blog for more great photos of this and the other fantastic aircraft and helicopters that will be paying Rockhampton Airport a visit over the next few weeks as we welcome the Singapore Armed Forces back to participate in Exercise Wallaby 2016.
Sincere thanks to Kayanne H, Trevor H and Ian H for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos at Rockhampton Airport!
