Beauty! Global Jet Luxembourg Airbus A319-115(CJ) P4-MIS Touches Down at Mackay Airport

The new year has started with a bang for CQ Plane Spotters with a real beauty of a corporate jet in the form of Global Jet Luxembourg Airbus A319-115(CJ) P4-MIS touching down at Mackay Airport late on Thursday 4 January.

It arrived from Dunedin (New Zealand) via a tech stop at Brisbane.

It remains parked on the Mackay Airport apron with reports that it could depart either on Sunday 7 January or Monday 8 January.

UPDATE!  Indeed P4-MIS departed Mackay Airport on Monday 8 January.  It initially headed for Hamilton Island Airport before later passing through Cairns, Honolulu (Hawaii) and Newark (New Jersey).

P4-MIS is an Aruba registration marking.  The Airbus Corporate Jet (CJ) is reportedly flown by Russian billionaire Viktor Vekselberg who also flys Bombardier BD-700-1A10 Global 6000 bizjet M-YVVF.  He also owns a large yacht named Tango which has reportedly been spotted in waters off Mackay and around the Whitsundays.

Vekselberg is the founder of the asset management company Renova, and started investing in Russia's privatisation boom. In 1996, he co-founded the Siberian-Urals Aluminium Company (SUAL) which would become United Company RUSAL, the largest aluminium company in the world. The net worth of Viktor Vekselberg is estimated at US$ 10.6 billion (2016).

Sincere thanks to the local Mackay plane spotters for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos of a really nice visitor to CQ!
