Mackay Airport Thursday - Early Fog Causes Diversions and Delays - Plus Global Express Bizjet VH-UPH Arrives

Early on Thursday 8 August, a thick blanket of fog engulfed Mackay Airport causing several delays and a couple of diversions.

Both morning inbound Toll Freight Metro flights - TFX132 VH-UZN from Brisbane and TFX162 VH-HPE from Rockhampton Airport - were forced to divert to Emerald Airport, returning to Mackay Airport during the middle of the morning.  While the morning QantasLink Boeing B717-200 QJE1772 flight VH-YQT from Brisbane was forced to divert to Townsville after making what looked to be a couple of unsuccessful attempts at landing.

Also spotted in the fog early on Thursday 8 August, after arriving late the previous afternoon, was Brenzil Dassault Falcon 7X bizjet VH-CRW.

While also photographed soon after arriving into Mackay Airport, also on Thursday 8 August, was UP Aviation (of Abbotsford, Victoria) Bombardier BD-700-1A10 Global Express XRS bizjet VH-UPH.  It arrived from Townsville, having flown there from Melbourne (Tullamarine) and Cairns over the previous couple of days.

VH-UPH also looks to be staying at Mackay Airport.

Sincere thanks to local plane spotter 'JM' for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
