Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-200 / KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) A39-006 Arrives into Rockhampton Airport - UPDATED!

Late on Tuesday 8 August, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Airbus A330-200 / KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) A39-006 was photographed as it arrived into Rockhampton Airport.

It was flying as "Dragon 42" and appears to have flown up from RAAF Base Amberley to complete air-to-air refuelling drills with fellow RAAF KC-30A A39-001 "Dragon 50" before then landing at Cairns.

A39-001 "Dragon 50" returned to Amberley, while A39-006 "Dragon 42" then flew down from Cairns to Rockhampton Airport.

At the time of writing, it appears that the KC-30A is staying for at least the night parked on the Southern end of the Rockhampton Airport parking apron.

UPDATE!  Early on Wednesday 9 August, A39-006 "Dragon 42" departed Rockhampton Airport and flew to Adelaide before then returning to Amberley.

Sincere thanks to local photographer Steve V for allowing us to share these great photos!
