A Couple of Delays and a Diversion at Fog Covers Rockhampton Airport Friday

I thick layer of fog enveloped Rockhampton early on Friday 1 July and caused a couple of delays and a diversion at Rockhampton Airport.

Toll Freight Metro 23 VH-HPE was operating the morning TFX129 cargo flight from Brisbane to Rockhampton, Richmond and Mount Isa.  It was unable to land at Rocky and diverted to Gladstone Airport.  After taking in fuel, VH-HPE continued direct from Gladstone to Richmond.

Meanwhile, the two morning Regular Public Transport (RPT) departures from Rockhampton Airport got away with some small delays - Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA) ATR 72-600 VH-FVY as VOZ1230 and QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOP as QLK2349.

However, as the screen captures above show, the early morning arrivals into Rockhampton Airport had trouble landing - VARA ATR 72-500 VH-FVI as VOZ1231 and QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOH as QLK2354 - both circling for some time before landing successfully.

Operations at Rockhampton Airport returned to normal around the middle of the morning.
