Great Photos as Australian Army CH-47F 'Foxtrot' Chinook and MRH-90 Helicopters Pass Through Rockhampton Airport Heading Home from Exercise Hamel 2016

At the conclusion of the Australian Army's joint-Exercise Hamel 2016, which has been held in South Australia over the previous month or so, as many as six Australian Army helicopters were spotted passing through Rockhampton Airport on Monday 18 July.

Three Australian Army Boeing CH-47F 'Foxtrot' Chinook helicopters were noted returning home to Townsville via Rocky including:

A15-304 as "Brahman 304".

A15-303 as "Chainsaw 303".

And A15-301 as "Fatboy 301".

Also heading home to Townsville from the South via Rockhampton Airport were three Australian Army (and Royal Australian Navy-marked) NH Industries MRH-90 Multi-Role Helicopters, including:

A40-031 and A40-008 which flew together as "Warhorse 1".

And A40-032 as "Destrier 32".

All six helicopters are based in Townsville and are flown by the Australian Army's 5th Aviation Regiment.

Of interest, Exercise Hamel featured partipating forces from not only Australian Army, but also the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), along with personnel from the United States Marine Corps (USMC), The United States Army (Pacific Command) and New Zealand Army.  You can read more about Exercise Hamel on the Australian Army's website.

Sincere thanks to local plane spotter 'IAD' who was on hand at Rockhampton Airport - and braved a passing heavy shower - to capture these great photos of these great helicopters!
