Queensland Government Raytheon Hawker 850XP Bizjet VH-SGY Pops into Gladstone Airport - And More!

On Friday 22 July, the Queensland Government Raytheon Hawker 850XP bizjet VH-SGY was spotted on the ground at Gladstone Airport after flying North from Brisbane and completing airwork in the Gladstone Airport circuit area - including at least one practice ILS approach.

After seemingly staying on the ground at Gladstone Airport for around an hour, VH-SGY returned to Brisbane.

Meanwhile, about the same time, Virgin Australia Embraer E-190 jet VH-ZPO was spotted arriving into Gladstone Airport operating the VOZ1711 scheduled service from Brisbane.

VH-ZPO later returned to Brisbane as VOZ1714.

Of interest, there has been a couple of 'additional' Embraer E-190 jet services into Gladstone Airport over the last week. I suspect this is due to at least one of their ATR 72 regional turboprop aircraft being in maintenance - VH-FVN was noted arriving into Christchurch (New Zealand) for planned maintenance on Monday 18 July.

Finally, one interesting light General Aviation (GA) aircraft to also visit Gladstone Airport on Friday 22 July was Piper PA-31-325 VH-FHQ.  It flew into Gladstone from Redcliffe and Maryborough and later departed back to Redcliffe direct.

Sincere thanks to 'Mick' in Gladstone who has sent through these great photos!  We hope to hear more from 'Mick' who is a long-time reader, first time contributor!  Thanks mate!
