On Sunday 25 March, a couple of nice helicopters were spotted by me passing through my local airport at Clermont Aerodrome. Perhaps the nicest was what looks to be only recently registered and newly delivered Agusta Westland AW139 P2-HCC which wears the titles and a basic of livery of Hevilift Papua New Guinea (PNG). It seems to be on a delivery flight to PNG.
P2-HCC originally departed Melbourne (Essendon) on Saturday 24 March for Griffith, Bourke and Charleville. On Sunday 24 March, it departed Charleville for Clermont before continuing to Townsville and Cairns. It is assumed that P2-HCC will continue to Papua New Guinea in the coming days - perhaps when the weather is a little more favourable after Tropical Cyclone Nora has cleared the area in Far North Queensland.
Of interest, the PNG registration marking P2-HCC was previously worn by another Hevilift (PNG) chopper in the form of a Bell Helicopter Textron 206L-1 Long-ranger. This chopper then took up the Australian registration marking of VH-IQY for operations with Hevilift Australia (Rotary Wing).
