More ADF Visitors to Rockhampton Airport - Unidentified Army MRH-90 "Warhorse 243" & RAAF P-8A Poseidon A47-002 "Mariner 05"

Déjà vu with another nice pair of Australian Defence Force (ADF) aircraft also spotted and noted visiting Rockhampton Airport on Wednesday 1 May.

During the morning, an unidentified Australian Army NH Industries MRH-90 Multi-Role Helicopter was noted into Rockhampton Airport from Townsville as "Warhorse 243".  It later departed to Brisbane.

Then during the afternoon, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing P-8A Poseidon Maritime Surveillance Aircraft A47-002 was photographed as it completing a missed approach at Rockhampton Airport.

It had looked to fly up to Rocky from its RAAF Base Edinburgh home in South Australia via a missed approach at RAAF Base Amberley.  After completing its airwork, A47-002 then departed to Townsville.  The P-8A Poseidon was heard to be using the radio callsign of "Mariner 05".

UPDATE!  On Thursday 2 May, RAAF P-8A Poseidon A47-002 was noted climbing out after completing a missed approach at Hamilton Island Airport before being noted overflying Charleville Airport and eventually returning to RAAF Base Edinburgh.  It was flying today as "Mariner 06".

Sincere thanks to local plane spotter Daniel B for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
