A Few More Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Aircraft Movements at Central Queensland Airports

On Friday 19 June, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing C-17A Globemaster III A41-209 was spotted in the rain and mist as it was about to complete a missed approach at Rockhampton Airport.  It was heard to be using the radio callsign of "Stallion 57".

The C-17 had originally departed RAAF Base Amberley and flew up to Rocky.  After the missed approach, it continued up to Townsville where it landed for short time.  A41-209 "Stallion 57" then flew back to Amberley via a spectacular low-level missed approach at Emerald Airport - as shown below.

Meanwhile, after arriving the previous afternoon, both RAAF Beech B350 Super King Air turboprops A32-671 "Hudson 09" and then A32-651 "Hudson 08" both departed Mackay Airport and flew back directly to their 'home' at RAAF Base East Sale in Victoria.

Finally, also on Friday 19 June, RAAF Lockheed C-130J-30 Hercules transport aircraft A97-442 "Trojan 04" was again noted in the region.  It looked to fly up from Amberley to complete a missed approach at Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airport before flying at low level up to around the Baralaba region and then Moura before landing at Taroom Airport.

Earlier, it appears the Herc flew at low level around the Sunshine Coast and Fraser Island area before flying to the Wondai area and eventually returning to Amberley.

It also appears that RAAF Alenia C-27J Spartan battlefield airlifter A34-007 "Wallaby 65" may have also completed airwork at Fraser Island while on a flight out of and back to Amberley.
