Alliance Airlines Commences Flights into Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast) Airport with Fokker F-100 VH-UQA

A couple of historic 'new' services into the Whitsundays and Mackay regions on Monday 22 June including the start of Alliance Airlines' four times per week services to the Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast) Airport.

As shown, Fokker F-100 VH-UQA operated the UTY2310/2311 flight from and back to Brisbane.

The flights into the Whitsundays were announced at the start of the month and are supported by both the Whitsundays Regional Council and the State Government.  The last flights between the capital and the popular tourist destination left on at the end of March, and there’s potential to increase the frequency from four times per week to daily if demand permits.

It’s hoped more than 5,000 tourists will use this new service over the next year.

It was widely reported that the deal to allow Alliance Airlines fly to the Whitsundays came as a 'shock' to Virgin Australia, which was itself hoping to operate the service.

Finally, as mentioned below, Jetstar Australia re-started flights into Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast) Airport from and back to Brisbane last Wednesday 17 June with Airbus A320 VH-VFP completing the airline's first flight back into Whitsundays.
