Jetstar Airways Airbus A320 VH-VFP Arrives into Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast) Airport as RPT Services Resume into the Whitsundays

On Wednesday 17 June, it was noted that Jetstar Airways resumed Regular Passenger Transport (RPT) scheduled flights into the Whitsundays with Airbus A320 VH-VFP touching down at the Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast) Airport as JST830 from Brisbane.  It later returned to the capital as JST833.

Jetstar hasn't operated into the Whitsundays since late March at the height of the recent COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Current schedules show no fixed pattern of operations at this stage, although I do note that another flight into the Whitsundays will touch down at Prosie on Thursday 18 June.

As we reported below, at the start of June, flights into the Whitsundays operated by Alliance Airlines Fokker jets were announced and are supported by both the Whitsundays Regional Council and the State Government.  The first flight is due to touch down on Monday 22 June.

It was widely reported that the deal to allow Alliance Airlines fly to the Whitsundays came as a 'shock' to Virgin Australia, which was itself hoping to operate the service.

Finally, flights to Hamilton Island remain in limbo with the Island still not open and no published plans available to indicate a possible re-opening.

Great to see the Whitsundays 'open for business!'
