Jetstar Airways Airbus A320-232(WL) VH-YXQ (ex JA12JJ) First Ever Commercial Flight and Visit to CQ at Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast) Airport

On Sunday 6 March, Jetstar Airways Airbus A320-232(WL) VH-YXQ was photographed on the ground at Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast) Airport after arriving from Melbourne (Tullamarine) on its first ever commercial flight for the airline. It operated as JST830/1.

VH-YXQ is the fifth (of now six) recently delivered Airbus A320 aircraft that have entered service with Jetstar Airways that all previously operated with Jetstar Japan. This A320 was previously operated by Jetstar Japan as JA12JJ and was originally ferried to Alice Springs in December 2020. It was then placed on the Australian Aircraft Register as VH-YXQ with this registration marking 'taped' over the Japanese registration marking.

In January, VH-YXQ departed Alice Springs for Singapore and pre-service maintenance.  It arrived back into Melbourne (Avalon) in mid-February and ferried over the Melbourne (Tullamarine) soon after.

As mentioned previously, fellow former Jetstar Japan A320s VH-YXS (ex JA17JJ), VH-YXT (ex JA23JJ / EC-LZF), VH-YXV (ex JA11JJ) and VH-YXW (ex JA18JJ) have all recently entered service with Jetstar Australia and have all at various times visited Central Queensland.

The sixth ex-Jetstar Japan A320 which was also stored at Alice Springs until recently - VH-YXU (ex JA06JJ) - also recently ferried to Singapore from there is also now parked at Tullamarine awaiting to enter service.

UPDATE!  On Friday 11 March, VH-YXU entered service with Jetstar Australia.

Finally, a further two three former Jetstar Asia Airways (Singapore) A320s have also recently arrived into Australia and are also parked at Tullamarine.  These are:  VH-XNI (ex 9V-JSN) and VH-XNJ (ex 9V-JSP) - also VH-XNN (ex 9V-JSM) has arrived since this post was originally published.
