Some More Photos of the Six Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Boeing CH-47F 'Foxtrot' Chinook Helicopters at Rockhampton Airport for Exercise Wallaby 2022

On Saturday 27 August, local plane spotters John L ventured to Rockhampton Airport and sends through some photos of some of the six Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Boeing CH-47F 'Foxtrot' Chinook helicopters that have arrived into Rockhampton Airport ahead of the Singapore Armed Forces' Exercise Wallaby 2022 (XWB22).

As posted below, all six arrived into Rocky in two flights of four and then two, direct from their base at Oakey using the radio callsigns of "Concorde" and "Celtic".

Of interest, the Chinook helicopters are flown by the RSAF's 127 Helicopter Squadron which is based at the Sembawang Air Base (SBAB) in Singapore, however as mentioned, with a detachment at Oakey.

The squadron goes by the motto of "Strength, Courage, Swiftness", the motto is supported by the squadron motif, a white horse in full battle armour.

The still fairly new CH-47F 'Foxtrot' Chinook helicopters are making their second visit to Rocky for Exercise Wallaby and to have six on the ground is a record number compared to previous years.

It seems the six serials of the Chinooks to be deployed to Rockhampton Airport for Exercise Wallaby 2022 are:  88167, 88168, 88169, 88171, 88162 and 88161.

Meanwhile, it appears that the RSAF Boeing AH-64D Apache helicopters are due for delivery to Rockhampton in around a fortnight.  There are unconfirmed reports that that they will be delivered to Australia via ship and then trucked to Rockhampton Airport.

And finally, it seems that heavy jet passenger charter flights will start next week with a mix of Qantas Airbus A330 and Singapore Airlines Airbus A350 aircraft rumoured to be operating into Rockhampton Airport.

Sincere thanks to local plane spotter John L for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
