JetGo Ready to Go on Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) Flights from April

As reported in the Sunshine Coast Daily newspaper recently, the Sunshine Coast Airport near Maroochydore will become the home of JetGo Australia - a new commuter and charter airline that is about to enter the Central Queensland fly-in fly-out (FIFO) market.

From their website (http://www.jetgoaustralia.com.au/), JetGo Australia is "a new provider of Air Charter & Fly-In Fly-Out services for Australian Industry, and pending CASA approval, we anticipate flight operations to commence in March 2012".

JetGo Australia are expected to launch FIFO operations from Sydney, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, utilising 37-seat Embraer E-135LR jets, rather than turbo-prop aircraft such as the Dash-8, which JetGo's competitors use.

A JetGo Australia spokesperson said, "Using jet aircraft to fly from Brisbane to Emerald will cut the flight time to around 50 minutes, rather than the one hour 40 minutes it currently takes in a typical Dash-8".

The E-135LR jets could begin flying twice a week by late March, following final regulatory approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

As well as Emerald, the JetGo Australia spokesperson also mentioned Moranbah in the newspaper article - we shall wait and see!
