A nice surprise for local plane spotters early on Wednesday 12 March in the form of a pair of Surveillance Australia / Australian Customs and Border Protection Service Dash-8-200s parked on the Northern end of the Rockhampton Airport apron. The Dash-8s were VH-ZZI and VH-ZZJ.
VH-ZZI reportedly arrived into Rockhampton late on Tuesday 11 March from parts unknown after completing a surveillance sortie, while VH-ZZJ positioned into Rocky late from Cairns.
Eventually on Wednesday, VH-ZZJ departed out of rocky on a surveillance sortie, while VH-ZZI was believed to have departed North to Townsville, and possibly eventually, Cairns, on a re-positioning flight.
Certainly a nice sight, and sincere thanks to 'IAD' for capturing and sending through these great photos!
