The Weather is Clearing but the Disruptions at Central Queensland Airports Continue

After parts of the Central Queensland coast - specifically the area around Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast near Rockhampton - were inundated with over one-hundred millimetres of rain, there were again some disruptions to air travellers around CQ on Thursday 27 March.  However, in some parts, the rain has seemingly began to clear, with patches of blue sky sighted around Gladstone and Clermont (my home town!)

With patchy storms rolling through inland parts, the evening Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA) ATR 72 flight from Brisbane to Moranbah - VOZ1669 - operated by VH-FVL - was unable to land at Moranbah and diverted to Rockhampton.  VH-FVL remained at Rockhampton for some time before eventually departing to Moranbah later in the evening.

Meanwhile, possible maintenance issues with Jetstar Airways Airbus A320 VH-VQP has seen the outbound Jetstar JST843 service from Hamilton Island to Sydney cancelled on Thursday 27 March.

VH-VQP - which operated the same route yesterday but diverted to Cairns after being unable to land at Hamo during the wet weather - had earlier arrived from Sydney as JST842.  It later departed empty to Sydney, positioning as JST7891.
