The second great arrival into Rockhampton Airport on Thursday 6 July in association with joint Military Exercise Talisman Saber 2017 (TS17) was Omni Air International Boeing B767-3Q8(ER) N477AX which touched down as OAE386 from Darwin. It had earlier arrived into the 'Top End' from Chubu Centrair International Airport in Nagoya, Japan.
Local plane spotters Daniel B and 'IAD' were both on hand at different parts of Rockhampton Airport and captured some great photos as the B767 touched down and then parked on Gate 6 on the Southern end of the parking apron.
It appeared that the Omni aircraft brought a load of personnel and their bags to Rocky most likely to participate in joint Military Exercise Talisman Saber 2017 (TS17).
Sadly, N477AX didn't remain on the ground for long, as it departed a couple of hours after its arrival and returned to Nagoya direct, flying again as OAE386.
Of interest, as the sun was setting on Thursday 6 July, more personnel and their bags were arriving into Brisbane Airport on board Atlas Air Boeing 747-446 N464MC. There are rumours flying around that this or another Atlas Air B747-400 or B767-300 may call into Rockhampton Airport over this coming weekend! Stay tuned!
Sincere thanks to Daniel and 'IAD' for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos of another great visitor to Rocky!
