Local plane spotter Micah S popped to Bundaberg Airport on Friday 7 July and was able to capture some photos of VH-IER as it sat parked up at Bundy. Unfortunately, the exact movements of the aircraft and why it was parked at Bundaberg Airport is not known, although reports have suggested that it was undertaking inspection flights for the Civil Aviation safety Authority (CASA).
As we reported last year, VH-IER, which has now been re-registered to Capital Jet Resources at Maryborough, arrived into Maryborough Airport in mid-July 2016 from Wollongong. It is believed to have returned to Wollongong to undergo some planned maintenance.
On the Maryborough Aviation Services Facebook page, the announcement was made last year that the Westwind would be housed, maintained and operated from Maryborough Airport.
VH-IER - which as suggested by its 'InflightER' titles - is fully kitted out as a specialist medical retrieval and evacuation (med-evac) aircraft. In fact the name worn by the aircraft - 'InflightER' - is literally short for 'InFlight Emergency Room'.
VH-IER is also now featuring as a part of Australia Air Medical, whose mission is to be known as the safest, most ethical and best value jet aeromedical retrieval services in the Australasian and Asia Pacific marketplace.
