On Friday 19 October, Australian Army NH Industries MRH-90 Multi-Role Helicopter A40-021 was spotted at Rockhampton Airport. It had earlier arrived from the Oakey Army Aviation Centre and was heard to use the radio callsign of "Pegasus 9".
After taking on fuel, A40-021 departed to Townsville.
As mentioned below, A40-021 flew South to Oakey also via Rockhampton Airport on Monday. It is possible that it flew to Oakey to participate in one of the spectacular flypasts on Thursday 18 October to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Australian Army Aviation Corps.
Synchronised flypasts were held on Thursday in Townsville (home of the 5th Aviation Regiment), Darwin (home of the 1st Aviation Regiment), Sydney (home of the 6th Aviation Regiment) and Oakey, to commemorate 50 years of the Australian Army Aviation Corps.
The anniversary also saw the final retirement of the Bell 206B-1 Kiowa training and light observation helicopter, which first entered service in 1971 and has been replaced by the joint-service Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) Airbus H135 helicopters at Nowra.
