Mackay Tiger Moth Museum De Havilland DH-82A Tiger Moth VH-CYA Makes Emergency Landing on the Weekend

As reported on some news sites, early on Saturday 20 October, the Mackay Tiger Moth Museum's antique De Havilland DH-82A Tiger Moth VH-CYA was forced to make an emergency landing on the construction site of the Mackay Ring Road.

At around 8.30am on Saturday, the pilot experienced vibrations in the cockpit and made a mayday call after realising the plane, which was on a joyflight from Mackay Airport, was having engine issues.

It landed safely near the Racecourse mill, and police escorted the plane back to the airport which as shown on the Channel 7 television news, was loaded on the back of a flat-bed truck.

Both the Australia Transport Safety Bureau and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority were reportedly notified of the incident.
