Exercise Wallaby 2022 - Four Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Boeing AH-64D Apache Helicopters Arrive into Rockhampton Airport - BY ROAD!!

Late on Tuesday 13 September, Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Boeing AH-64D Apache helicopters were noted arriving into Rockhampton Airport on the back of four semi-trailer trucks!

It appears that the four Apaches were brought to Australia by ship and then off-loaded at the Port of Brisbane.  They were then subsequently loaded onto trucks and transported by road up to Rockhampton.  Reports suggest that their rotor blades are already at Rockhampton Airport, probably transported over on an RSAF C-130H Hercules.

All four Apache helicopters are flown by the RSAF's 120 Squadron "Kestrel" (also known as the "Red Hawks") based at Sembawang Air Base in Singapore.  The Squadron is the first and oldest RSAF operational squadron in service, first formed in 1969.  The squadron goes by the motto of "Strive To Achieve".

We await confirmation of the serial numbers of the Apaches deployed to Rockhampton Airport for the Singapore Armed Forces Exercise Wallaby 2022.

We also expect that they will start test-flights before the end of the week.

Of interest, a pair of Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) ships have also been noted at the Port Of Brisbane.  The Endurance-class tank landing ships (LST) RSS Endurance (207) and RSS Persistence (209) have both been noted docked.

They are the largest class of ships in the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and were designed and built by Singapore Technologies (ST) Marine to replace the old County-class tank landing ships. The four ships form the Third Flotilla of the RSN.

The ships also feature Aviation facilities including a Flight deck and enclosed hangar for up to 2 medium-lift helicopters.  The Aircraft carried can include AS 332M Super Puma or AS532UL/AL Cougar or CH-47SD Chinook helicopters.
