The Federal Election is less than a week away and the campaigning by all political parties has stepped up with no less than three of the leaders hitting Central Queensland on Monday 2 September. Most notable was the arrival at Gladstone Airport early on Monday 2 September of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on board Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing B737-700(BBJ) A36-002.
The BBJ - of the VIP 34 Squadron based in Canberra - touched down from Townsville as "Envoy 03".
Local plane spotters Jamie C and Tash C were on hand and captured some truly fantastic photos of Mr Rudd's arrival.
Shortly after, Alliance Alliance Airlines Fokker F-70 VH-JFE also touched down at Gladstone Airport from Townsville operating as UTY621.
As we mentioned below, the Alliance Fokker is one of two aircraft (the other is fellow F-70 VH-JFB) that have been chartered to carry Australian media around with the Federal leaders during the Election campaign.
His engagements complete, Mr Rudd re-boarded A36-002 and departed to Brisbane, again as "Envoy 03".
VH-JFE also departed to Brisbane but as UTY623.
What truly spectacular photos captured by two very talented photographers - my sincere thanks to both Jamie and Tash for sending these awesome images!
