I flew out of Mackay Airport for Brisbane on Friday 24 July and when I arrived at Mackay Airport I noticed QantasLink (Cobham Aviation) Boeing B717-200 VH-NXJ sitting on the tarmac. It had arrived the previous evening and was supposed to operate the early morning QJE1771 service to Brisbane. It was then to return to Mackay and operate the flight in was on. This didn't happen.
As a result of the B717-200 becoming unserviceable, I was transferred to a Dash-8-Q400 flight (VH-LQJ) and Alliance Airlines Fokker F-70 VH-JFB was sent to Mackay from Brisbane as UTY2632. It then operated as UTY2633 back to Brisbane on behalf QantasLink.
Once I arrived in Brisbane, I noted VH-NXJ undergoing more maintenance checks. It resumed service later on Friday when it again returned to Mackay.
It appears that fellow B717-200 VH-NXR was flown to Sydney early on Friday 24 July to possibly cover a southern-state based B717-200 causing QantasLink to be a little 'short' of aircraft.
As a further result of this, Alliance Fokker F-100 VH-XWT was noted calling into Gladstone later on Friday 24 July as UTY2634, I presume on behalf of QantasLink.
Local plane spotters Jamie and Tash captured some great images of VH-XWT as it touched down and later departed back to Brisbane as UTY2635.
Thanks guys!
