A nice start to the day for local plane spotters ‘IAD’ and Kayanne H at Rockhampton Airport on Friday 24 July with a pair of Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing C-17A Globemaster III transport aircraft touching down from different parts of the country.
Firstly, A41-211 called in as “Stallion 16” from RAAF Base Amberley.
It was loaded with personnel and cargo - I suspect in support of the two visiting RAAF IAI Heron UAVs - before departing to RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia.
Word around Rocky Airport is that the actual 2 Herons were themselves transported back to to Woomera in South Australia where they are operated by the RAAF's No. 5 Flight.
A41-211 looked to be spending the night at RAAF Base Edinburgh, with it scheduled to return to Rockhampton some time on Saturday 25 July.
A little later on Friday 24 July, RAAF C-17 A41-206 returned to Rockhampton Airport from Darwin again as "Stallion 15".
It called in yesterday revealing that it now wears a white ribbon in support of ‘White Ribbon Day’ - Australia's campaign to stop violence against women.
A41-206 departed south to RAAF Base Amberley.
At the time of writing, A41-206 has just touched down again at Rockhampton Airport and looks to be spending the night parked on the Northern Military Hardstand.
Another great day of movements and plane spotting at Rockhampton Airport, and we sincerely thank ‘IAD’ and Kayanne H for taking the time to capture and send through these awesome photos!
