Corporate Air SAAB 340Bs Take Over FIFO Charters to Clermont Aerodrome

With the closure of Skytrans Airlines, Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) charter flights to my local airport, Clermont Aerodrome - for the nearby Glencore Clermont Coal Mine - seem to have been taken over by Corporate Air.  Late on Monday 5 January, I spotted (in pouring rain) both Corporate Air / Vee H Aviation SAAB 340B turbo-props VH-VEF and VH-VEO at Clermont Aerodrome.

VH-VEF seemingly arrived direct from Brisbane, while VH-VEO arrived from the Sunshine Coast.

Then early on Tuesday 6 January, SAAB 340Bs VH-VEF and VH-VEM were both spotted at Clermont Aerodrome, dropping more passengers off from Brisbane.

Of interest, with the closure of Skytrans, and the subsequent withdrawal of their departures to Cape York from Cairns, the FNQ Skies Blog noted that West Wing Aviation aircraft had commenced flying to these destinations on Monday 5 January.

Specifically:
B200 King Air VH-SBM flew Cairns-Aurukun-Cairns
B200 King Air VH-MWQ (registered to Seair) flew Cairns-Coen-Lockhart River-Cairns
B200 King Air VH-XDW flew Cairns-Pormpuraaw-Kowanyama-Cairns
Beech 1900D VH-XDY flew Cairns-Bamaga-Cairns

A 'pat-on-the-back' to West Wing Aviation for picking up these important routes to communities in Cape York!
