Sunday Afternoon Plane Spotting at Mackay Airport

Adam P is a hard working young man, so with any downtime he is able to take advantage of, he pops out to Mackay Airport and takes a few photos.  Adam has sent through some wonderful photos he caught of the some of the late afternoon movements at Mackay Airport on Sunday 2 September.

Shown on the Mackay Airport apron (above) was the mid-to-late-afternoon rush, with a QantasLink Dash-8-Q400, Jetstar Airbus A320, and Virgin Boeing B737-800 all present.

Jetstar Airways Airbus A320 VH-VQL had earlier arrived from Brisbane as JQ888, and is captured by Adam as it slowed down on Mackay Airport's Runway 14.

Joining these aircraft on the apron shortly after was another QantasLink Dash-8 - this time Q300 VH-SCE which arrived from Townsville as QLK307.

The first of the apron traffic to depart was Virgin Australia B737-800 VH-YFJ.  The fairly recent acquisition to the Virgin fleet departed back to Brisbane as VOZ616.

Then QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOI departed for Townsville as QLK2314.  VH-QOI still wears its Tamworth Country Music Festival colour scheme, and I think it looked quite nice in the late afternoon light!

Also arriving into Mackay Airport on Sunday 2 Speptember was Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Hawker Beechcraft B200C King Air VH-FDS.  "FlyDoc 425" arrived from Townsville, and later departed to Cairns.

Another medical aircraft arriving back its Mackay Airport base was the Central Queensland (CQ) Rescue Helicopter Service Bell 412 VH-NSV.

Another chopper also spotted by Adam arriving back into Mackay Airport was Heli-Reef / Mackay Helicopters (Aviation Tourism Australia) Bell 206 VH-CKU.

Spectacular photos - thanks Adam!
