Air South / Rossair Charter Embraer EMB-120ER Brasilia VH-YEI Calls into Hamilton Island Airport - Plus a Few Local Bizjets as well!

A surprise but most welcome arrival into Hamilton Island Airport on Sunday 4 December was South Australia-based Air South / Rossair Charter Embraer EMB-120ER Brasilia VH-YEI.

I assume that it is operating a closed charter.  VH-YEI arrived from Kingscote and Windorah.  It departed Adelaide for Port Lincoln and Kingscote on Friday 2 December.

At the time of writing, VH-YEI is scheduled to depart directly back to Adelaide on Monday 5 December.

Of interest, VH-YEI was delivered to Air South in 2015 having been operated in Western Australia with Network Aviation as VH-NHA.

Meanwhile, over the last week, there has yet again been a good mix of local corporate bizjet and turboprop aircraft to visit Hamilton Island Airport.

On Sunday 4 December, Melbourne Air Holdings (Executive Airlines) Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign bizjet VH-EXG paid a brief visit arriving from and later departing back to Melbourne (Essendon) Airport.

Also paying Hamo a visit from Essendon on Sunday 4 December was Shortstop Jet Charter British Aerospace BAe-125-1000B bizjet VH-LMP.  While departing Hamilton Island Airport on Sunday 4 December for the Gold Coast was  MWP Racing Bombardier CL-600-2A12 Challenger 601 bizjet VH-MXK.  It had arrived from there on Friday 2 December.

It is also believed that Balmoral Air Dassault Falcon 2000LX bizjet VH-WIO arrived at Hamilton Island Airport from Bankstown on Thursday 1 December and returned there on Friday 2 December.

Finally, on the lighter side of movements, a couple of corporate turboprop aircraft have been noted calling into Hamilton Island Airport including Hinterland Aviation Beech B200 King Air VH-HLJ which paid a quick visit from Cairns late on Sunday 4 December as HND790.

And on Thursday 1 December, Sundown Pastoral Company (of Bonogin in the Gold Coast Hinterland) Raytheon B300 Super King Air VH-NSI visited Hamo from the Gold Coast.

Finally, on Monday 5 December, CromAir Cessna 414A VH-CBT is due to arrive at Hamilton Island Airport from Bundaberg and later depart to Townsville.  VH-CBT is now based on the Gold Coast.
