A Few Plane Spotting Photos from Mackay Airport Last Week

Townsville plane spotter Dave has again ventured to Mackay for work last week, and again managed to squeeze in a bit of time for plane spotting at Mackay Airport.  He kindly shares some of his great images with us.

On Wednesday 21 May, Jetstar Airways Airbus A320 VH-VGZ was captured departing Mackay for Brisbane as JST883.

Reminder that Jetstar's new daily services between Mackay and the Gold Coast will commence on Saturday 28 June.  With this, another new routes commencing, Jetstar have also reduced the reduced its four daily services between Mackay and Brisbane to two daily services.

About the same time, Virgin Australia Boeing B737-800 VH-VUW was captured by Dave touching down from Brisbane as VOZ605.

VH-VUW - now resplendent on new colours and adorned with the name "Pebbly Beach" - departed back to Brisbane a little later as VOZ608.

Also arriving on Wednesday was Alliance Airlines Fokker F-100 VH-FWH which was operating into Mackay on behalf of QantasLink as UTY2644.

Later on Wednesday 21 May, Dave captured Virgin Embraer E-190 VH-ZPL as it prepared for departure to Sydney as VOZ1474.

VH-ZPL still wears the old Virgin Blue colours, however it has a white panel on its under-side.

Also in old Virgin Blue colours was Virgin Australia Boeing B737-800 VH-VUI which operated the VOZ613/614.

After returning to Brisbane, VH-VUI then positioned to Townsville as VOZ9939 where it entered the hangar for re-painting into Virgin's new colours.

And finally, QantasLink (Cobham Aviation) Boeing B717-200 VH-NXK was captured as it prepared to return to Brisbane as QJE1769.

On the General Aviation (GA) apron at Mackay Airport on Wednesday 21 May, Dave captured Surveillance Australia / Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (Cobham Aviation) Reims F406 VH-YZG resting after earlier arriving from parts unknown.

Also parked was Gippsaero GA-8 Airvan VH-NLF which is seemingly a new resident at Mackay with the registered operating showing a Cowley Air of Mackay, although it is believed the aircraft is being utilised by Horizon Airways.

Dave then returned to Mackay Airport early on Thursday 22 May to capture the arrival of Tigerair (Tiger Airways) Airbus A320 VH-VNB from Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport as TGW744.

Finally, on Friday 23 May, Dave captured an interesting visitor in the form of FKG Air (Redjet Aviation) Hawker Beechcraft B200GT VH-FKB was noted arriving from Archerfield.  It later departed back there via Hervey Bay.

Also Jetstar A320 VH-VFT was spotted touching down as JST882 from Brisbane.
