Alliance Airlines to Fly Services to Central Queensland Airports for Virgin Australia Airlines


On Wednesday 25 January, Virgin Australia has announced additional flights to Central Queensland airports, as part of an accelerated capacity growth plan for major corporate, resources sector and leisure routes throughout Australia.

The airline will be introducing the following:

From Monday 13 February, an additional return service, Monday to Friday, will be introduced bwtween Brisbane and Proserpine / Whitsunday Coast - taking the total number of flights offered by the airline on the route to 24 per week.

From Sunday 19 February, an additional return ATR 72-500 service will also be introduced between Brisbane and Gladstone on Sundays, taking the total number of flights offered by the airline on the route to 34 per week.

From Monday 20 February, an extra return flight, Monday to Friday between Brisbane and Rockhampton - taking the total number of Virgin Australia flights offered by the airline on the route to 78 per week.

The new Rockhampton and Proserpine / Whitsunday Coast flights will be operated by Alliance Airlines Fokker F-100 aircraft. Brisbane spotters report that VH-XWM and VH-XWN may be the aircraft involved - there is even speculation that these aircraft are being repainted into a different livery.
