More Skytrans Airlines Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) Charters for Clermont Aerodrome

Skytrans Airlines has announced that is starting a new fly-in fly-out (FIFO) charter service out of the Sunshine Coast Airport to Clermont Aerodrome.

This new FIFO charter operation will bring about 400 mine workers from the Sunshine Coast to Clermont from next week. This will see four additional flights into Clermont each week, on top of the 8-9 that currently arrive at Clermont each week from Brisbane. All flights are flown by Dash-8 aircraft, and operate on behalf of mining giant, Rio Tinto Coal Australia, who has signed a long-term contract with Skytrans.

The new service adds to the Sunshine Coast's existing Aergo charter flights to Middlemount, Clermont and Moranbah, which are also operated by Skytrans Dash-8 aircraft, as well as Regional Express (REX) SAAB 340 aircraft.

Local media also report that it has been confirmed that other mining companies, including Australia's largest resources firm, BHP Billiton, will consider adding to the services. BMA - a joint venture between BHP and Mitsubishi – is looking to the Sunshine Coast for FIFO charters to transport workers to its Caval Ridge mine near Moranbah.
