Travellers might have more of an incentive to use the paid parking facilities at the Rockhampton Airport, after six vehicles were reportedly broken into on Hunter Sreet over the weekend.
A police spokesperson said police were called to the Hunter Street and Canoona Road area after receiving calls that a group of people had been damaging cars that were parked along the road which leads to the airport.
Motorists park their vehicles along the stretch to avoid paying parking fees at the airport.
Rockhampton Regional Council said the paid parking facility was the safer option for airport users to leave their vehicles overnight. Council has also reportedly been cracking down on people illegally parking at areas around the airport.
