REMINDER!! Virgin Australia to Start ATR Services to Emerald Airport on Monday

Finally!! The time has arrived and Virgin Australia will commence its double-daily week day services to Emerald Aerodrome with Skywest Airlines operated ATR-72s from Monday 16 January.

The new service is a most welcome addition for the residents of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, who have been long screaming out for competition and cheap airfares in the region.

A Virgin Australia representative said the ATR turbo-prop services would bring much needed competition to the region and would provide links to Virgin Australia’s domestic and international services as well as those of its partner airlines.

The ATR-72 aircraft is a 68-seat turbo-prop aircraft which has been introduced by Virgin Australia on regional services including:
- Double daily weekday return services between Brisbane and Gladstone
- Daily return services between Brisbane and Port Macquarie
- Double daily services between Sydney and Port Macquarie
- Up to six daily return services between Sydney to Canberra

Virgin Australia will also launch ATR services to Rockhampton Airport on weekends from February 2012 as well!
