Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Big Transport Aircraft Touch Down at Rockhampton Airport

Touching down in the miserable weather at Rockhampton Airport on Sunday 15 July was Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing C-17A Globemaster III A41-210.

Don W managed to catch a couple of photos of the big Globe shortly after it touched down.

It later, reportedly, departed to Amberley, maintaining a cruising altitude of 11,000 feet.

On Monday 16 July, another big RAAF aircraft in the form of an Airbus A330-203 / KC-30A (MRTT) which was spotted parked on Gate 6 at Rockhampton Airport.

Its arrival caught everyone by surprise, and there were even reports of possibly two RAAF C-130 Hercules transport aircraft also being sighted at Rockhampton Airport.

Media have reported that the final 'stage' in the three combined Australian Defence Force (ADF) Exercises to take place in the Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA) has commenced.  It appears the sudden influx in RAAF and other support movements at Rockhampton Airport could be as a result of this exercise named "Precision Support".  We look forward to the weeks events!
