Virgin Australia Embraer E-190 VH-ZPQ Surprise Visit at Gladstone Airport Friday

It was looking like a quiet morning at Gladstone Airport on Friday 14 September, until information came through that Virgin Australia were operated an Embraer E-190 jet into the industrial city from Brisbane.  In fact, local plane spotter Jamie C managed to be at the right place at the right time during the afternoon, and caught E-190 VH-ZPQ shortly after it arrived at Gladstone Airport for a second time on Friday from Brisbane as VOZ1713.

VH-ZPQ initially operated from and back to Brisbane as VOZ1711/1712, before returning to Gladstone for another visit again operating from and back to Brisbane as VOZ1713/1716.

There were also some interesting General Aviation (GA) aircraft noted visiting Gladstone Airport on Friday 14 September.  The Queensland Police Service (Airwing) Raytheon B1900D VH-PSK is a frequent visitor to Central Queensland Airports, and operated into Gladstone from Townsville.  It later departed to Brisbane, where it then departed for Rockhampton and Mackay Airports.

Cessna 182 VH-CLZ is based in Brisbane and was noted on the Gladstone Airport GA apron along with Mooney M20J VH-CVB which is operated by Developing Aviation in Cairns.

Lastly, locally-based Dova DV-1 Skylark Ultralight 24-5123 was also noted on the GA apron.

There are more photos coming of a great day - and an even better week of Virgin E-Jet action!
