Exercise Wallaby 2016 - Air New Zealand B787-9 Dreamliner ZK-NZG and B777-200 ZK-OKG at Rockhampton Airport Saturday Night

As we've mentioned a couple of times, the fourth and final 'wave' of heavy jet passenger charter flights in support of Exercise Wallaby 2016 have touched down at Rockhampton Airport over the weekend with a pair of Air New Zealand widebody jets operating into the beef capital.

Late on Saturday 5 November, Air New Zealand Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner ZK-NZG arrived into Rockhampton Airport, positioning direct from Auckland as ANZ6000.

ZK-NZG was loaded with a full flight of troops and their cargo before it eventually departed to Singapore's Changi Airport as ANZ1936.

Soon after the Dreamliner departed, Air New Zealand Boeing B777-200 ZK-OKG also touched down at Rockhampton Airport, also positioning direct from Auckland but as ANZ6004.

It too was loaded with troops and cargo before also departing to Singapore but as ANZ1940.

At the of writing, ZK-OKG is due to return to Rockhampton Airport on Sunday 6 November, arriving back direct from Singapore around 2.00pm as ANZ6001.  It will return to Singapore once again, marking the end of the heavy jet passenger charter flights in support of Exercise Wallaby 2016.

Of interest, B787-9 ZK-NZG is currently returning to Auckland direct from Singapore as ANZ6005.

Sincere thanks to local plane spotter Kayanne Hardsman for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
