A Pair of ADF MRH-90 Multi-Role Helicopters A40-009 & A40-035 - Plus a RAAF Challenger 604 Bizjet A37-001 - Call into Rockhampton Airport

As reported on our Facebook page, as the sun was setting on Wednesday 2 November, the action picked up at Rockhampton Airport with the arrival of a pair of Australian Defence Force (ADF) NH Industries MRH-90 Multi-Role Helicopters, along with a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Canadair CL-600- 2B16 Challenger 604 bizjet.

The two MRH-90s were identified as A40-035 (wearing Australian Army titles) and A40-009 (Royal Australian Navy [RAN] titles).

Both arrived from the North flying separately as "Destrier 35" and "Destrier 09" and were parked up for the night.

Over the course of Thursday 3 November, A40-035 was heard to depart Rockhampton Airport for Williamson Airfield which is within the Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA).  It later returned to Rocky before departing back North to Townsville via Mackay.

It appears that A40-009 may have broken down as it was not heard to be flying on Thursday 3 November.

Meanwhile, a little later in the evening on Wednesday 2 November, RAAF Challenger 604 A37-001 arrived from Canberra as "Consort 98".

After staying for the night, A37-001 departed for RAAF Base Richmond in New South Wales.

Sincere thanks to local plane spotters Scott H and 'PB' for taking the time to capture and send through these great photos!
