A Few Bizjets and More at a Very Busy Hamilton Island Airport

Plane spotters from the Sydney Airport Flyways Facebook Group recently ventured to Hamilton Island for a holiday, and they have been kind enough to share with us some wonderful photos from their time at Hamilton Island Airport.  Including on Sunday 18 August when Hamo played host to three lovely bizjet visitors including Brenzil's recently re-registered Dassault Falcon 2000EX bizjet VH-KRW which had earlier arrived from Brisbane.

VH-KRW departed back to Brisbane on Monday 19 August.

MJets Thai Gulfstream G-V bizjet HS-WEH was scheduled to arrive into Hamilton Island Airport from Sydney late on Saturday 17 August.  It must not have been able to land and diverted to the Proserpine / Whitsunday Coast Airport, from where it eventually touched down on Hamo on Sunday 18 August.  HS-WEH eventually departed back to Sydney later on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Private Dassault Falcon 2000EX bizjet F-GZLX arrived back into Hamilton Island Airport for the second time this month, arriving back from Bankstown on Friday 16 August.

From the Sydney Airport Flyways, on Sunday 18 August at Hamilton Island, they captured a couple of the commercial movements to touch down on the Island before they flew home to Sydney including Virgin Australia Boeing B737-800 VH-YIA which operated the VOZ1497/1498 service from and back to Brisbane.

Jetstar Airways Airbus A320 VH-VFD was also captured operating into Hamilton Island from Brisbane as JST852/855.

Meanwhile, when they arrived into Hamilton Island on Thursday 8 August, the Sydney Airport Flyways captured Jetstar A320 VH-VQP on the ground after they arrived from Sydney as JST846.

Interestingly, on Monday 19 August, VH-VQP was again operating into Hamilton Island from Sydney as JST846, however it suffered some engineering problems and didn't depart back to Sydney as JST849 until much later in the day.  It was noted that Cairns-based Piper PA-31 VH-AUG which is believed to have ferried an engineer down to Hamo.

Other light aircraft to call into Hamilton Island over the busy weekend included Alizzi Aviation Beech B200 King Air VH-ZOS which touched down from its Ballarat home on Saturday 17 August.  It departed back there on Monday 19 August.  And Silver Linings Aviation Raytheon B300 Super King Air VH-ZEK which arrived into Hamilton Island from Bankstown on Monday 19 August.

Lastly, on Thursday 8 August, GSL Aviation Gippsland GA-8 Airvan VH-URB was captured shortly after arriving into Hamilton Island from Shute Harbour / Airlie Beach at the completion of one of it many daily transfer flights from the mainland.

My sincere thanks to the Sydney Airport Flyways spotters for sharing their great images with us!
