Some Photos From The Rockhampton Aero Club Flying Competition Day at Emu Park Airstrip Last Weekend

Last Sunday 28 July, the Rockhampton Aero Club hosted the first of its flying competitions for 2013.  Club members and interested aviators and enthusiasts gathered at the Emu Park Airstrip for a morning of balloon popping, flour-bomb dropping and precision landings.  Rockhampton plane spotter 'IAD' ventured to the Emu Park Airstrip and captured some of the action!

The Rockhampton Aero Club's own Cessna 172 was captured by 'IAD' as it took off from Emu Park and then came around at its attempt to 'pop a balloon'.

Bob Hyam in his Teenie Two 19-7319 was also captured by 'IAD' also attempting to 'pop his balloon'.

The flour-bomb dropping was also keenly fought out.

At the end of competition, the results from last Sunday saw Claire MacTaggart on 17 points beat 12 other pilots to take overall honours.  A full list of results can be found on the Rockhampton Aero Club website (http://rockhamptonaeroclub.org.au/).

Stay tuned to the Rockhampton Aero Club website and CQ Plane Spotting for details of the next flying competition.  They look they are great fun!  Thanks to 'IAD' for venturing out to Emu Park to capture these fantastic images!
