QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOY Pops into CQ Airports in New Colours

On Wednesday 22 August, QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOY emerged from the Flying Colours paint-shop at Townsville and was immediately noted visiting Hamilton Island Airport wearing its new 'Silver-Roo' colour scheme.

It was noted visiting Hamo, arriving from and later departing back to Cairns as QLK2503/2504.

VH-QOY then departed on a Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) charter flight to Moranbah Airport but it turned back due to a technical problem.

On Thursday 23 August, VH-QOY then positioned from Cairns to Brisbane and then on Friday 24 August, it operated a flight to and back from Emerald Airport as QLK2404/2405.

It has been reported that the previously un-named VH-QOY has now been given the name of 'Port Augusta'.

Of interest, before the Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOY entered the paint-shop, QantasLink Dash-8-200 VH-TQX was re-painted into the new and updated Qantas livery and kangaroo logo, which was introduced to coincide with the introduction the Boeing B787 Dreamliner into service with the airline late last year.  Sadly, we don't see these smaller Dash-8's in CQ with it, and fellow Dash-8-200's VH-TQG and VH-TQS mostly operating out of Brisbane and Sydney.

Finally, at the time of writing, it appears that Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOM is now in the paint-shop in Townsville.
