On Tuesday 19 February, Tiger Airways celebrated carrying its 10 millionth passenger. And in a coup for the Central Queensland region, that passenger was boarding their Tiger Airways flight at Mackay Airport!
To celebrate the milestone, the passenger was presented with a $1000 voucher for future flights with Tiger, while the airline also launched a $10 sale on its most popular routes. Tiger also recently announced the launch of new routes including Melbourne-Sunshine Coast, Sydney-Cairns and a return to Alice Springs from Sydney and Melbourne. Tiger has also introduced flights between Sydney and Coffs Harbour.
A Tiger spokesperson thanked everyone who has chosen to fly Tiger to date, adding that the $10 sale was one way Tiger can give back to their growing fan base, and perhaps get those who haven’t tried Tiger before to do so.
The budget airline started operations in November 2007, and only returned to Mackay in December 2012 after an almost 18 month hiatus.
